My process for this booklet first involved choosing words to inspire my design and complement the article. My choices, in no particular order:
The text discusses the necessity of play and experimentation in design, and I wanted to play off that theme in my own layout. I wanted it to look like a child had taken elements of the images and scattered them about the page, fitting them together like puzzle pieces. Discovering. Playing.
My color palette was also influenced by this narrative. Primary color palettes are often associated with childhood; I've freshened up the look of this one by using a dark desaturated navy blue and a salmony red tone.
